Elena Moiseenko
An Operations Executive
Elena Moiseenko is a Florida-based executive who enjoys spending as much time as she can with her pet golden retrievers. She recalls how finding a new dog led to an eye-opening experience.
“When I lost my older Deek to cancer, I was devastated,” she recalls. “My pet sitter asked if I was interested in a rescue dog - Miller from Georgia.” She used to get her dogs from pet stores, but the more she learned about them, and so-called “puppy mills,” the more horrified she was. Dogs at puppy mills are often housed in crowded and unsanitary conditions, with little to no veterinary care. Millions of dogs and other small animals wind up in animal shelters, but many end up being euthanized. By adopting Miller the rescue dog, she probably saved his life. “Miller came into our lives and brought my older dog Dino back from serious depression from losing his long lost brother.” She recalls. “Despite his age of eleven years old, Dino is quite young in spirit and has enjoyed his new adopted brother just as I have.” Most rescue dogs, she knows now, are given up by their owners for reasons having nothing to do with behavioral problems. But the reasons why they’re given up often remain a mystery. “I often wonder who would have left such a wonderful dog behind and what his life was like before he came to us,” Elena Moiseenko says of Miller. “I am just excited he is here and will never ever go back to a pet store for a new puppy. Rescue dogs need us.” Comments are closed.
